It's On Us Corvallis

WE HAVE MOVED!!!
Please visit https://charity.gofundme.com/o/en/campaign/itsonuscorvallis

We are officially 501(c)3 backed, an action of the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition 's Food Action Team - Local 6 Connection.

-----------------------

It's On Us Corvallis, to nourish and support each other.

The concept:
A community-sourced fund that provides meals for folks who need a boost, business to restaurants, and security to our friends and neighbors. This effort is in direct response to COVID-19's devastating effects on local business, employees, and community members, but, with your help, we think this fund has staying power.

With community support and encouragement, we believe a pay it forward model will thrive in Corvallis.
Keep the fund revolving and we'll work to expand its reach.

How it works:
- Participating restaurants will commit to and be paid for IOU meals.
- Those who want a meal will order an IOU meal on the designated date.  It's just like ordering a normal take-out meal. No catch, no needs assessment, they're for everyone to enjoy!
- Those in the community who need ways to give back will donate to fund future meals.

More information:
We are three community members inspired to help and who believe in the power of paying it forward. All funds are distributed directly to participating restaurants, less processing fees determined by GoFundMe (2.9% + .30 per transaction. This is a standard credit card processing fee).
If you choose to donate using Venmo there are no fees! (@itsonus_corvallis)

About Us:

Welcome! We are three volunteers and invested members of the Corvallis Community.  We met in Fall 2019 while volunteering with the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition’s Food Action Team Local 6 Connection. We came together in April 2020 to form a community-supported response to address multiple needs in the community; food security, small business, employment, front line worker appreciation, community resilience, and equitable nourishment for the body and soul. What started as a simple Facebook post and GoFundMe page project is now an official Action of the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition’s Food Action Team! That means we think IOU Corvallis has staying power.

Elizabeth Jones is the heart behind this operation. She is emerita professor of German History at Colorado State University and teaches German classes at the German School Corvallis. Elizabeth is active in the community as a board member and regular Saturday volunteer at Stone Soup . She is a budding gardening enthusiast with a passion for feeding people. Elizabeth works very closely with restaurants to make sure the large numbers of orders we need work with their logistics and staffing. This requires immense amounts of time and organization, and for her vision and tenacity we are grateful!

Ashley Relf manages the graphics and donor relations, and her thoughtfulness and calm give the team a strong foundation on which to build. Ashley is the membership manager for Greenbelt Land Trust, serves on the Downtown Advisory Board, and is a member of Leadership Corvallis  class of 2020. Her previous work experience as Associate Director of the Bellamy Mansion Museum of History and Design Arts laid the foundation for her Jill-of-all-trades skillset. Ashley is thrilled to create graphics that communicate IOU's message clearly, personally thank each and every donor, and keep us celebratory and in good spirits! We feel so lucky to work with her!

Aliza Tuttle is the social media guru and IOU treasurer.  Her leadership, empathy, passion for social justice, knowledge about food systems, and general ability to achieve anything is invaluable to our mission. Aliza is a research assistant at Portland State University, the current leader of the Food Action Team Local 6 Connection group, and tends her garden and chickens in her free time. Aliza's passion and attention to detail are invaluable as she manages the budget and provides logistics support while communicating with the public. She is a natural leader and we are fortunate for her talents!
