On December 30, 2022, our honorable comrade, Chris Esponda, DACA dreamer, Water Protector & Immigrant Rights activist was violently attacked by an enraged stranger after exiting a small business in Shoreline, WA.

Suffering a severe concussion, a brain bleed, and intense bruising to his internal organs, Chris was hospitalized for several days and is now attempting the most demanding recovery of his life as he faces major surgery and ongoing medical care.

The doctors have ordered him to rest and not work for six months while his brain heals. But Chris doesn’t have any sick leave; he owns his own computer repair business and is his sole employee. Chris is an indigenous Maya immigrant from Mexico and even though he’s a DACA recipient who’s been a member of our community since he was a small child, he’s ineligible for Medicaid or other public services due to his lack of citizenship.

Chris is truly one of the most generous and kind people our community knows. He has spent his life working hard to be an outstanding supporter of the community as well as a responsible family man and he has always gone out of his way to help others wholeheartedly. He brings compassion wherever he goes and we know that when he gets better he’ll be back out there shining his light, even after facing such darkness. But for now, he must rest, heal, and feel safe.

We’re asking everyone to contribute anything you can, no matter how small, to help pay for his expenses while he follows medical orders to try and recover from this severe physical and financial emergency. This campaign is organized by close friends of Chris and all funds go directly to him.
